Modern Horoscope

18 Oct

Horoscope”s modern representation in western popular media is usually reduced to sun sign astrology, which considers only the zodiac sign of the Sun at an individual’s date of birth, and represents only 1/12 of the total chart. The names of the zodiac correspond to the names of the constellations originally within the respective segment and are in Latin.

The zodiac is divided into 12 signs, each 30 degrees long. The cycle of zodiac signs starts with Aries, which begins at the spot on the ecliptic where the Sun is on the first day of spring. These 30 degree sections of the sky are actually blocks of space, not time.

Zodiac signs are often confused in the popular mind with “sun signs”. When a person says, “I’m an Aries!”, what they’re really saying is they were born at a time of the year when the Sun is in the zodiac sign of Aries. Because our calendar is designed to mimic the motions of the Sun around the zodiac, the Sun is in Aries at nearly the same time period each year (roughly March 20th or 21st to April 19th or 20th). Hence the 12 sun signs are like months of a calendar based on the zodiac. They represent time, not space.

Knowing Horoscope

18 Oct

In astrology, a horoscope is a chart or diagram representing the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, the astrological aspects, and sensitive angles at the time of an event, such as the moment of a person’s birth. The word horoscope is derived from Greek words meaning “a look at the hours”

There are twelve horoscope signs that are derived from constellations in the sky. Your zodiac sign is based on the constellation in which the Sun was, at the time of your birth. Every sign has a symbol, an element (fire, earth, water or air) and is ruled by a planet (one planet rules not more than two signs). Cancer (ruled by the moon) and Leo (ruled by the Sun) are the only two signs that are not ruled by a planet. The meaning of a horoscope sign is hidden in the three associations it has – its symbol, its ruling planet and its element.

This was something about what horoscope signs mean. However, understand that horoscope signs broadly categorize personalities into twelve classes. You cannot have all the traits of your sign or be exactly like what your horoscope sign suggests. It is only a broad classification.

Aries

18 Oct

March 20 – April 20

Aires is Latin for ram. the constellation of Aries is associated with the golden ram of Greek mythologythat rescued Phrixos and Helle on orders from Hermes, taking him to the land ofColchis.Phrixos and Helle were the son and daughter of King Athamas and his first wife Nephele. The king’s second wife, Ino, was jealous and wished to kill his children. To accomplish this, she induced a famine in Boeotia, then falsified a message from theOracle of Delphi that said Phrixos must be sacrificed to end the famine. Athamas was about to sacrifice his son atop Mount Laphystium when Aries, sent by Nephele, arrived. Helle fell off of Aries’s back in flight and drowned in the Dardanelles, also called the Hellespont in her honor. After arriving, Phrixos sacrificed the ram to Zeus and gave the Fleece to Aeëtes of Colchis, who rewarded him with an engagement to his daughterChalciope. Aeëtes hung its skin in a sacred place where it became known as the Golden Fleece and was guarded by a dragon.[2][10] In a later myth, this Golden Fleece was stolen by Jason and the Argonauts.

Assertive Mars controls the month of April. In Greek Mythology, this planet is called “The Lord of War,” and rules the impatient sign of Aries. You were born a leader, however, because of your inborn impatience you may also learn by making a few mistakes.

Your strong and impatient desire to succeed must be controlled and hasty decisions avoided. Others perceive you as a competitive and motivated child-like person. More than any other sign of the zodiac, souls born in April must learn steadiness, organization, and most of all, diplomacy.

Virgo is Latin for virgin. The Greeks and Romans associated Virgo with their goddess of wheat, Demeter-Ceres who is the mother of Persephone-Proserpina. Alternatively, she was sometimes identified as the virgin goddess Iustitia or Astraea, holding the scales of justice in her hand as the constellation Libra.

The Virgo analytical ability is amazing. A Virgo can seem quite talkative. They also have a penchant for books, magazines, and writing. There is an omnipresent critical eye for organization and detail. This can come across as an irresistible urge to improve everything and everyone. Not all Virgo’s are neat freaks, though, and some can be quite sloppy, disorganized, and irresponsible. They’ve got this hypocrisy thing, don’t they? Like a drill sergeant gone haywire, a Virgo can address someone’s bad habits but then they have the same bad habits themselves. They are us usually health conscious and not overly competitive. Despite being independent, Libras want to make other people happy because they value other people more than they value themselves. That does not mean that they yield themselves totally against their principles; they can then be like a rock, unyielding.

Scorpio

18 Oct

October 23 – November 22

Scorpius is Latin for scorpio. In Greek Mythology the myths associated with Scorpio almost invariably also contain a reference toOrion. According to one of these myths it is written that Orion boasted to goddess Artemis and her mother, Leto, that he would kill every animal on the earth. Although Artemis was known to be a hunter herself she offered protection to all creatures. Artemis and her mother Leto sent a scorpion to deal with Orion. The pair battled and the scorpion killed Orion. However, the contest was apparently a lively one that caught the attention of the king of the gods Zeus, who later raised the scorpion to heaven
